The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) released a series of Pastoral Letters to First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and the People of God in Canada, to affirm its ongoing commitment to renewing and strengthening relations with Indigenous Peoples at the national, regional, and local levels.

The Knights of Columbus remembers Pope Benedict XVI with gratitude. The Order was privileged to support his pontificate in numerous ways, and he played an important role in the canonization cause of the Knights’ founder, Father Michael McGivney, whom he declared Venerable in 2008. The National Day of Prayer in Solidarity with Indigenous Peoples is celebrated on December 12 every year, on the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas. The Canadian Catholic Aboriginal Council celebrates this day for prayer, solidarity and reconciliation, by issuing an annual message honouring Aboriginal people who were inspired by their Catholic faith.

World Day of Youth is the global celebration of young people that takes place annually on the Solemnity of Christ the King in every diocese and community around the world, including at the Vatican with the Holy Father.

The Three Eparchs Of The Ukrainian Catholic Church serving in Canada published a Pastoral Letter recently “to the Clergy, Religious and Faithful of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Canada, and to all Good People”, calling for prayer, fasting, and action as “the war in Ukraine rages on with no end in site.”

Young people are important to the Church of today and tomorrow. Their faith, creativity, dynamism, and vitality are a surge of hope that can change the world. It is to young people that this Pastoral Letter from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops is addressed.

Issued on the anniversary of the death of Blessed Carlo Acutis, 12 October 2022, this Pastoral Letter is meant to inspire young Catholics to live their faith in an extraordinary way, encouraging them to strive toward holiness, and assuring them of the steadfast support and accompaniment of their Bishops along their individual journeys of faith.
